In rhinoplasty, the surgeon essentially has the techniques of open and closed nasal correction available. The determining factors for which procedure is applied to the patient are the initial findings, the individual anatomical conditions, and the aesthetic requirements for the desired changes.

In the so-called closed technique, the procedure is performed endoscopically. In this case, the surgeon works on the cartilage and bone structures from the inside through the nostrils. The incisions are made inside the nose, which eliminates visible scars. This technique allows for straightening or reducing the nose.

Larger interventions usually require a view into the inside of the nose with the open surgical technique. The surgeon lifts the nasal skin through a small incision on the nasal bridge and can then perform the operation on the bones and cartilages from the outside. After the correction, the skin is pulled back over the nasal framework and sutured.
